  • Mariam, an orphaned dugong who stole the hearts of animal lovers around the world. She was the first dugong known to be cared by humans on Koh Libong in Trang province, Thailand since being found on a Krabi beach in April 2019. 
  • Mariam who rose to internet fame after images of her nuzzling rescuers, died from an infection exacerbated by bits of plastic lining her stomach on August 17, 2019.
